Joanna Goodey
Joanna Goodey is a Senior Lecturer in Events Management at the University of Greenwich, having previously held roles at London South Bank University and the University of Westminster. Having come into academia via industry, Joanna is passionate about building relationships between education and industry partners to enhance the development of innovative events management curriculum, teaching, and learning experiences. Supporting students in gaining an in-depth experience and understanding of the dynamic and complex needs of the events industry.
Joanna is the lead for the AEME Teaching and Learning Special Interest Group, working with colleagues from academic institutions across the UK to support best practice across events management education.
Joanna is also an experienced events and cultural industries consultant and producer, passionate about the sustainable development of the creative, cultural and community sectors. She has worked for 17+ years across a number of business and events industry sectors however, her main focus has been in the development and management of arts, cultural, creative industries and 3rd sector, festivals, events, projects and organisations.
Joanna’s research interests range from sustainable development and practices for the cultural, creative industries and events sectors, through to social justice and inclusion in education. Joanna‘s doctorial research focuses on forms of critical learning and critical pedagogical practice in events management education and event delivery.
