Back in February The Rolling bean occupied the central entrance walkway at international Confex drawing in and engaging our visitors through the power of their coffee station solutions. We caught up with Founder Lee Turner to find out what his team have been up to since and they are certainly keeping busy by doing their bit for key workers.
'In early March as the events industry was shutting down we were contacted by the team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. All provisions in & around the hospital had been shut and they were making space to care for more Children than ever before. As a team we'd spoken about what we could do during this time and when this opportunity arose everyone wanted to help. We offered to provide coffee for as along as needed on a not-for-profit basis. We knew if we could keep the cost to a minimum we could stay and support the incredible NHS heroes much, much longer. Within 3 days of starting news spread around the wards and we were quickly serving over 700 drinks per day.
Fast forward 6 weeks and we'd become a semi permanent feature within the staff canteen. Every morning we met the same nurses, cleaners, Doctors and porters, tirelessly working, supporting such an incredible institution that cares for the most vulnerable children within our society. We hit a huge milestone at the end of April, serving our 20,000th coffee to the team. Speaking with NHS staff; what seemed like a simple coffee, made them feel appreciated and able to come to work each day, despite the personal risk, this small gesture made them feel hugely valued.
Looking forward, we're continuing to serve these incredible heroes. For us it has made us realise that when we fuel the conversation across the events industry, that flat white with an extra shot, can help bring the whole event together, keeping the wheels turning on the day and the guests motivated all the way through until the final key note’
