Mash Media is recruiting for an experienced Sales Manager to run its Exhibition news portfolio. The company, 25 years old this year, is a dynamic events and publishing business with leading brandings in the events and meetings industry. Mash Media is based in Kingston Upon Thames, approximately 50 people in size.

Exhibition News is the only magazine in the UK entirely dedicated to the exhibition segment of the events industry. It is specifically targeted by nature and there will be no better place to engage with the key companies in the industry than on EN, both on print and online.

The role: 

Grow advertising and sponsorship revenues through your own relationships and managing the sales team. The role involves developing positive relationships with key advertisers and media agencies and ensuring that the magazine and digital offering is planned for relevant campaigns. Drive advertiser, agency, partner and client direct relationships to maximise revenue across the allocated account. To develop, propose, cost and implement creative solutions, sponsorship packages and advertorial ideas to potential advertisers. To work closely with the Portfolio Director, to ensure a consistent stream of new ideas and revenue opportunities which are attractive to advertisers and in line with the client’s strategy and values. To have detailed and current knowledge of the client’s market and competitor activity.

Principle Accountabilities and Duties

  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders and partners, to proactively promote Exhibition News in the market place.
  • Generate big ticket revenue opportunities and partnerships through advertising and sponsorship.
  • Be a key ambassador for our magazines and events within the events industry.
  • Attend all key industry events and devise any promotional opportunities for our products at these.
  • Keep abreast of market knowledge and competitor activity to identify opportunities and threats to our brands or the business. Communicate these regularly to your sales team and to the board.
  • Manage your Sales team, ensuring they are planning correctly, are sufficiently knowledgeable about their markets, motivated and supported to deliver sales and customer service performance targets.
  • Motivate and drive sales activity to achieve weekly, monthly and annual KPI's and objectives for your sales team in order to deliver target revenue. Introduce ad-hoc incentives and bonuses to drive intensity where appropriate.
  • Develop each member of the sales team and product personal development plans and co-ordinate training
  • Communicate clearly with editorial, to identify and create maximum sales opportunities and to drive partnerships in print, digitally and via social media.
  • Provide intelligence and input into the content and feature elements of our events and magazines to create additional revenue streams. Liaise with other portfolio managers to implement your ideas for group wide activity.
  • Report each week and month against targets: sales activity, telephone, volume of sales, revenues for each of the products and individual salespeople.
  • Ensure that the company CRM is actively maintained and updated on a regular basis relating to all client contact, visit and telephone communication
