How to B a Better Business
Exclusive Collection, a certified B Corp, is now part of a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose, as well as profit.
During his presentation, Danny will share what it means to be a B Corp organisation and how choosing a certified B Corp company gives clients a mark and commitment that goes wider than purely sustainability.
As the UK’s first hotel company achieving certification as a B Corp, the company has undergone and undertaken in-depth social and environmental standards which represent its commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit.
B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. Achieving the certification is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. Most significantly to complete the certification, the company must also legally embed their commitment to purpose beyond profit in their company articles: a major change to how business is managed and a move away from a pure profit focus.
The session will share:
• how using a B Corp company gives organisers an accreditation that the venue they are choosing is considering not only the planet but its team, the local community and its supply chain.
• the steps that Exclusive Collection has undertaken to achieve the certification and a look at what is coming next
• share how other hospitality organisations can become involved in the movement towards more socially conscious business management
All businesses can have a voice for effective change on the planet and on society and this presentation will share how every voice and every action can come together to make a demonstrably big positive impact.
