Amazing Retreats 08 Nov 2011

Spitbank Fort: The most spectacular event’s venue in the UK opens its door in January 2012

If you are looking for a truly unique exclusive-use destination in the UK then Amazing Retreats’ latest addition – the former Napoleonic Spitbank Fort is the venue to book for 2012.
What could be more inspiring then spending the day on your own private island in the middle of the Solent? Just a mile offshore from Portsmouth Harbour, Spitbank Fort will provide a memorable and truly luxurious backdrop for a meeting with clients, a brainstorm with colleagues, or the perfect incentive for companies to reward their staff.

Spitbank Fort is pleased to announce two special corporate packages to coincide with its launch in January 2012: The Day Delegate Island Escape and The Conference Island Escape packages.

The Day Delegate Island Escape is from £150 per person based on ten delegates using the fort and its facilities for up to eight daylight hours. The price also includes refreshments during two breaks, a delicious freshly prepared buffet lunch by the Fort’s resident chef, water all day, WiFi, projector & screen, stationary and transfers to and from the fort in powerful rib or comfortable cruiser.

The Conference Island Escape is from £650 per person based on eight people sharing the Fort for 24 hours. The price includes all of the above along with breakfast and dinner.

To celebrate the announcement of their Delegate Packages, Amazing Retreats are offering the agent that books the most business (in excess of £10,000), between now and the opening date in January, exclusive use of the entire property for one night.* To book, visit www.amazingretreats.com, email info@amazingretreats.com or call 01494 682682.

Dating back to 1878, the Grade II listed building is accessible only by boat which adds to the magic and privacy of Spitbank Fort. Facilities will include a stunning function suite with dramatic views from its floor to ceiling glass windows; eight luxury bedrooms, all en-suite; three private dining rooms and bars including a rooftop champagne bar; a wine cellar, library, rooftop hot pool, sauna and sun decks.

Spitbank’s fascinating and quirky history adds to its charms. The seaward side was originally armed with nine 12.5 inch muzzle loading guns, which were replaced in 1884 with more modern 12-inch breech-loading guns and these remained in service until after World War I. The Fort was declared surplus to requirements in 1962 but was only sold by the Ministry of Defence in 1982. Since then Spitbank has been privately owned before being purchased by Amazing Retreats who, along with English Heritage and PLC Architects in Portsmouth, are transforming the fort into a unique luxury venue like no other.

So for corporate and MICE events in a unique and historic setting, which will be talked about in years to come, your island awaits…
